Sergiu Deac: Building Opportunity

In 2001, Sergiu Deac left Romania to pursue the American Dream. “For me, the U.S. is a place where, even if you come with nothing, you can be successful if you work hard enough,” he says. Starting as an apprentice under his cousin, a general contractor, Sergiu learned everything from kitchen remodeling to custom home building before launching Best Construction.

Today, as owner of Best Construction, Sergiu’s favorite part of the job is building lasting relationships with clients. “I love seeing the happiness on their faces after we’ve completed their projects. I take pride in knowing I’m leaving behind a legacy with what I build.”

A San Jose resident, Sergiu spends his free time with his wife and business partner, Anamaria, and their two energetic sons, Darius and Luca. The family enjoys hiking, and Sergiu likes motorcycling, fishing, and spending time with friends—many of whom are former clients.

Honesty is central to Sergiu’s philosophy. “It’s important to be a man of your word, both personally and professionally,” he explains. “I say what I mean and follow through. That’s been key to our company’s success.”

If he could retire tomorrow? “I’d travel the world. We’re so busy being successful that we forget there’s a whole world to explore. But I’ll probably work until my last day—I truly enjoy what I do.”
